All individuals who are 9 or 10 years of age, as of December 31st, are eligible to register in the U11 division, which offers structured full-ice practices and games.
Participants are divided into equal teams consisting of a maximum of 17 players and 2 goaltenders.
Although goaltenders are officially rostered as such, they are permitted to dress as a player in any game they are not designated as the starting goaltender.
Goaltender equipment may be provided by MMHA, if required.
All other players are encouraged to rotate through all offensive and defensive positions.
A qualified coach will facilitate all on-ice activities; however, each team will require several parent volunteers.
Practices will focus on technical skills, individual tactics and team tactics, with an introduction to team systems.
Games usually commence in October and follow all Hockey Canada rules.
Teams will be registered in a designated OMAHA league.
U11 teams will be permitted to attend up to two (2) out-of-town tournaments and recreation team(s) will host one (1) in-town tournament.
Teams may qualify for league playoffs.
The U11 division will also offer the opportunity for participants to try-out for a competitive team. Those players selected for a competitive team will be required to pay additional fees for provincial 'carding' and extra ice-time.
